Free the Captives

Here are some of the staggering statistics of slavery around the world....

27 million people are in modern-day slavery around the world

1 million children are exploited by the global commercial sex trade, every year.

50%  of transnational victims are children.

70%  of female victims are trafficked into the commercial sex industry. This means that 30% of female victims are victims of forced labor.

32 billion – Total yearly profits generated by the human trafficking industry

14,500 - 17,500  foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States every year

12-14 – Average age of entry into prostitution

More Stats from the Polaris Project

What are we going to do about this? What CAN we do about this?  A persecuted missionary had this to say when asked how believers could help his cause - "The least you can do is the most you can do....PRAY!" We have to start by interceding for these captives around the world. We must cry out to God on their behalf.

But we can not stop there. We must partner with and support ministries who are doing the work on the ground to free these slaves. Here are just a few...

How to Awaken A Generation

How are we going to awaken this generation to become the Bride of Christ? That's easy... LOUD NOISES!!!!

 Psalms 57:7-11

 7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,
   my heart is steadfast;
   I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
   Awake, harp and lyre!
   I will awaken the dawn.

 9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
   I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
   your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

 11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
   let your glory be over all the earth.

Happy Valentine's Day - We are nothing without love (1Corinthians 13)

1 Corinthians 13

 1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Key Values

We have four key values at ECHOP that fuel the vision of seeing our world changed for Jesus Christ. These values are Prayer, Worship, Mission, and Justice.

Prayer
Everything begins and ends with intimacy. This is our goal, our focus, and our purpose. As we spend quality time with Jesus in the Secret Place, our lives are transformed. As our lives are transformed to look more like His, we impact the world around us.

Worship
Worship leads to a deeper intimacy with Jesus. We worship him with song, dance, poetry, art…etc. We also worship Him with our laid down lives. Worship brings passion, desire, and focus to our lives and our prayers.

Mission
As we become intimate with the Holy Spirit, we begin to see the world through His eyes. We begin to see the mission field around us. Our heart breaks for the things that break His. Because we are infected with the Gospel, we cannot help but impact the world around us. Whether this is Beal and 98 or Africa, focused intimacy with Jesus causes us to change the world.

Justice
Injustice is a wrong that needs to be righted- hatred, sickness, poverty, abuse, abortion…etc. We begin with intercession for justice. Intercession is simply crying out to God on another’s behalf. But we don’t stay there. We find ways that we can put feet to our prayer. We feed the hungry, love the abused, speak for the silent, heal the sick, and raise the dead.
